JaNee Nyberg
When JaNee Nyberg first started making her YouTube videos, the cocktail world was very different than it is today. The internet was a much less hostile place and the general public was far less cocktail literate. That doesn’t mean that Nyberg didn’t have her share of critics, however. It seems that many people were able to see past the fact that she was a pretty and seemingly ditzy blonde with a master’s degree and make her cocktails in her living room, and focus instead on her lack of technique and the fact that she was not an actual professional bartender.
But that doesn’t mean that Nyberg stopped trying to improve her craft. In the years since, she has worked with some of the most well-known names in the industry and continues to make entertaining video content. In addition to her YouTube channel, she has also written a book and works as an AP history teacher at Highlands High School in Sacramento.
Creating a frothy pillow of foam on a drink requires skill and patience, but the results are worth it. In this video, Jim Meehan of the bar Please Don’t Tell demonstrates the process of creating the perfect foam for cocktails like a Gin Fizz.
Layering cocktails creates a fun and crowd-pleasing visual effect. This video by liqueur brand Bols explains how to achieve the effect using the twisted shaft of a bar spoon and a careful pouring technique.
