ANTIQUE “SAVOY COCKTAIL BOOK” Somewhat hard to find, virtually rare in this condition! Original 1930 FIRST edition, hard cover; NOT a reprint Recipes compiled by Harry Craddock of the Savoy Hotel, London Cover art by Gilbert Rumbold features the silhouette of a man downing a drink, with a lightning bolt across his heart and down his body; all in shiny gold, green, gray and black art deco designs. Recipes for “cocktails, rickeys, daisies, slings, shrubs, fizzes, juleps, cobblers (and much more!) with sundry notes of amusement and wine education and etiquette”. Near excellent to excellent condition! Does not appear to have ever been used, especially never in a bar setting! Clean, crisp pages; intact and complete, solid binding. No dog ears on upper pages but of minor note is three bottom corner dog ears at the very back of the book; no evidence of being “pressed” open, no writing or marks; like new inside! Has a tiny, very minimal, amount of exterior storage wear and a little shelf wear along bottom edge; looks worse in photos because it is shiny in hand. Back lower right corner of cover has some unknown bumpiness, does not affect interior; might be age related disintegration of foil, old binding glue smear or ??
